Mistakes to avoid when making a marketing video.
Anyone can make a video, but often they are missing a few key elements. The most common mistake that business owners make (and video producers, too) when making marketing videos is that they are done the wrong way. Usually it’s the business owner talking into the camera saying something like this: “We are the best company, blah-blah-blah, and have been doing this for X number of years, and our customers love us, yada, yada, yada” and going on and on. This is just so ordinary and forgettable that media folks love it because they demand lots of money for repetition to get any kind of result. If you’re thinking that’s most of what you see you’d be correct! Most are doing it wrong! Lol.

I’ve got a better way, and it’s really they only way it should be done. It involves using a scripting formula that gets results. We begin to develop the message by asking some very important, yet basic questions. We want to get into the conversation that is going on in the prospect’s head. The scripting formula has to be done the right way or it doesn’t work…
Here’s what I ask:
- Who is the target audience?
- Why are they searching?
- What are their pain points?
- How does your service take care of those pain points?
- What makes you credible?
- Do you need an offer or promotion?
- What are the trigger words for your target audience?
- What makes it a no-brainer?
In a nutshell:
We do not want “about us” videos, which seems to be the norm out there. We want to show the benefits the viewer gets by describing their pain point in real world situations and how our service is the answer. We want a video that delivers the right message and talks to the client, builds a connection and relationship, and gets people to take action instantly.
